A LITTLE TRANSPARENCY
Privacy & analytics
We use basic, first-party analytics to understand whether visits lead to account creation and whether the study resources are useful.
What gets counted
Page views on the ledger and study directory, opening the signup form, successful signup or sign-in during a visit, and clicks on study-resource links. Referrals are grouped as direct, search, social, campus, or other. We do not store the referring URL.
A random, first-party cookie groups activity into a browsing session. It expires after 30 minutes without a counted action. Sessions are estimates, not a count of unique people. Clearing cookies, changing browsers, blockers, and automated traffic can affect the numbers.
What stays out of analytics
We do not put IP addresses, usernames, account IDs, passwords, diary text, bathroom selections, search terms, or full URLs in our analytics records. We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site tracking. The site owner sees totals and trends, not visitor profiles. The hosting provider still processes requests to operate and protect the site.
Analytics records are cleaned up after 35 days. Collection starts with this feature; earlier traffic cannot be reconstructed. Account and diary records are separate from analytics. Diary notes, usernames, and selected locations are public as described on the entry form.
Your choice
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals disable collection. You can also turn off analytics here; this does not affect signup, login, or visit logging. Turning it off also removes the current analytics session, if available.
The analytics preference is saved in this browser. The separate sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.
